Jesse Jones, WPA Chief

Poker players were often looked down upon in the United States and other countries, considered good for nothing gamblers, but much has happened in the last ten years or so to change that image. Poker players are routinely friends and neighbors and family members, although that does not make them mutually exclusive with "good for nothings." Furthermore poker players winning tons of money started donating or playing for charity, which is always looked at as a good move. A time came when it looked as if poker itself could do with a donation of time and effort, and one poker pro stood forward to do just that.

Jesse Jones is a poker pro with over 20 years of experience and a resident of Las Vegas. As a retired real estate investor he certainly knows a good deal when he sees one, and when he determined that poker needed a hand, he knew that he would reap the rewards. But it wasn't what poker could do for Jesse Jones, it was about what Jesse Jones could do for poker.

Two years ago Jesse founded the World Poker Association, sort of a global version of the Poker Players Alliance in the US. He immediately enlisted other poker players from around the globe to serve on the board and share their respective experience with the WPA, and membership has been steadily growing ever since. Jones, a three time survivor of throat cancer, has scored several cashes in tournaments, including the WSOP, the WPT and the Crown Aussie Millions Championship.
