Tuan Le

Tuan Le

Some players approach a poker tournament as if they were standing behind the famed Maginot Line that protected France from Germany before World War II. They play conservative, thoughtful poker with the attitude that the best offense is a good defense. Tuan Le plays as if he is of the opinion that the best defense is pummeling his opponents with aggressive play until he has taken all their chips. This is a poker pro that is noted for his forceful, daredevil style of play.

The Tuan Le story begins at the Hustler Casino in Los Angeles. It was heard that the Cal State Northridge finance major learned the sort of lessons that would probably make his professors a bit uncomfortable. He began playing the $20/$40 limit hold'em games, seriously testing his own personal risk tolerance. He quickly found that he had a natural gift for the game, and abondoned the idea that the life of an accountant was the best his future had to offer. Tuan Le entered the ranks of professional poker players.

It didn't take long for the young man to make a name for himself. In 2004, the 26-year-old Le won his first World Poker Tour event. He showed that this victory was no fluke by also winning the WPT Season 3 Championship. The champion went on to win the WPT Battle of Champions III and becoming the top money winner on the World Poker Tour.

In stark contrast to his aggressive style of poker play, his hobbies are a bit more subdued. In his spare time he plays badminton. He is also a fan of rap music. Presumably these two activities are not done together.

He is one of the small community of players who have family ties within the game. His brother Nam Le has also been victorious in WPT play. Between the two of them, there is potential for this powerful duo to become the poker version of Venus and Serena Williams. There are those of us who are looking forward to the day that they go head to head at a WPT final table.
