Roland De Wolfe: To Remain His Own Boss

Roland De Wolfe: To Remain His Own Boss

British Roland "The Sheep" De Wolfe has gone from writing about poker greats as an editor for poker magazine InsideEdge to being a great one himself and he doesn't want to go back to his writing days anytime soon.

With his writing career offering little release for his growing passion for poker De Wolfe became actively involved in learning and playing poker. He decided to take the big plunge - and soon he won his first big event, the WPT in Paris. Now the success is steady for De Wolfe - he has earned over $2,683,469 and he remains humble about his aggressive, winning style.  Obviously - De Wolfe wants to remain his own boss. He's perfectly content with his life right now - and at 27, he's just beginning to make his mark. As it was already mentioned, De Wolfe had his first significant win in the summer of 2005 when he claimed the World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris. 2005 was also the year that he cashed in the $1,000 No Limit Holdem event at the World Series of Poker and in the $15,000 Main Event at the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic.  He finished third at the $25,000 WPT World Championship early in 2006, pocketing over $1 million. He later had a third-place finish in the 2006 WSOP $2,000 No-Limit Shootout event. After winning over $691,000 at the European Poker Tour's Main Event in Dublin, Ireland, De Wolfe is now the only player to win championship events on both the WPT and the EPT.  Despite all the winning - De Wolfe grants few interviews with press because he doesn't want to jinx his phenomenal success. It's been just over three years - so De Wolfe is not yet accustomed to thinking of himself as a poker star, rather than a poker writer. A quick glance at his bank statement might help the reality set in.
