Randy Holland - Travelling Man

Randy Holland - Travelling Man

Unless you are an airline pilot or flight attendant, there are few jobs in this world that allow an employee to get paid to travel to fun and exciting places on a regular basis. Neither a professional pilot nor flight attendant, Randy Holland has earned his wings a different way; at the poker table. And since 1993, Randy has traveled the world, mixing business with pleasure, earning his living playing poker at tournaments of all sizes.

Considered by his peers to be among the top ten card players in the world in 7 card stud and 7 card hi-lo stud, Randy Holland views himself steady at most types of poker, with his least favorite being limit Hold’em. Holland is grateful for the recognition from his peers; while still humble about his ability as a poker player and any accolades he may receive in these poker formats.  Randy Holland quickly admits that he does not have any particular skills such as a great memory or an exceptional ability to read his opponents, instead laying credit for his success to experience, discipline, and luck – crediting his tournament success early in 2005 as much to the papers falling right for him as to the way he played them.  Holland considers himself to be a patient yet aggressive player. His hybrid playing style has come from watching successful professionals like Jack Keller and T.J. Cloutier, although Holland claims to work hard at staying disciplined and not to try to make something out of nothing when the cards aren’t showing him love. Always trying to improve his game, Randy Holland continues to learn from both his experiences and by watching other top flight players.  For a man who enjoys travel and movies, life seems to have dealt Randy Holland a hand he can keep.
