Matt Matros: A Gentleman Who Can Do Anything

Matt Matros could have done anything in his life. He was valedictorian of his high school class. Following that he got a degree from Yale. This was combined with an education from Sarah Lawrence College in the art of fiction writing. In other words, this is a very bright and versatile young man.

His early ventures into poker were limited to weekly games with his high school buddies. He didn't get serious about the game until his senior year in college. The Westhampton, New York native began to approach the game of poker in the same manner he approached anything else in life. In other words, he began to study it.  After college, but before turning to poker as a life's persuit, Matt worked as software quality engineer. After a while he bored with trying to figure out the bugs in Windows XP and Doom 3 and began to play poker more seriously.  His first real taste of success came when he finished in the money at the 2001 Tournament of Champions. Soon after that he quit his job. It was during his time at Sarah Lawrence when he signed a contract to write The Making of a Poker Player.  Playing poker became Matt's summer job. In fact playing poker is how he managed to pay for his second year of graduate school. Matt received his Masters from Sarah Lawrence College, and went full force into the poker industry. Today he is a full-time writer/poker player/poker coach. Along with everything else he is also working on a novel.  For a gentleman who can do just about anything, the poker industry is lucky he chose a life involved in professional poker.
