John Hennigan

John Hennigan

If you were one of the thousands who tuned into the World Poker Tour’s first ever televised poker match up on the Travel Channel, you saw pro player John Hennigan make it to the final table. Large and balding with piercing eyes, Hennigan stumbled upon playing poker when he couldn’t find enough work shooting pool. After being a professional pool player for several years, Hennigan was easily able to transfer his pool playing skills to the realm of poker. Turns out that hustling and bluffing are one in the same.  Hennigan is now a regular on the WPT circuit and has won several bracelets at the World Series of Poker tournament. Notably, Hennigan took first place in the WSOP limit hold’em main event in 2004 and second place in the WSOP No-Limit Two to Seven Draw Lowball event in 2005. It’s safe to say he’s won too many tournament games to even mention. Despite winning so many big tournament games, Hennigan, a native to Philadelphia, claims to favor cash games instead of tournaments.  Hennigan’s style of poker might be classified as high risk. He is definitely aggressive and some would argue that he makes too many high-risk moves that may not pay off. It’s no secret that Hennigan has experiences some colossal losses to go along with all his big wins but he seems to take it all in stride. Despite this criticism, Hennigan continues to shine. He laughs at his criticism all the way to the bank. He has earned the nickname “the World” because if given the chance he would bet on anything in the world on a poker game.  To be certain, you can bet on seeing John Hennigan making the rounds at this year’s World Series of Poker event. He has yet to win the big, main event match and maybe this will be the year it finally takes it all home.Related Articles:Happy Folding Trip KingsEllix OutBeware The Nut FlushNo Look Poker
