Gustav Hansen is a European player living in Copenhagen, Denmark. And though speaking of poker in his homeland Gus states that “it is nonexistent” and “government taxes make poker prohibitive” he is a very skillful player with a remarkable playing style. He does not play many tournaments, but when he does he is always at his best.
”Somebody Has To Win” Gus Hansen plays very aggressively. He can raise you to death holding something like K7. But he is not just a loose-aggressive player. He has a great ability of putting his opponents on tilt and driving them mad by constant attacks. Those who do not understand poker say: “this guy is lucky as hell.” Well those who say state such things have no idea of how to play the game. “It’s No-Limit, baby,” as Scotty Nguyen once said. Gus would blow almost anyone out of the game, because he knows how to manipulate his opponents. Gus has won several World Poker Tour events and is considered the most interesting WPT player by many people. However Gus is rather modest about his skills: “Not to say that I am a great player or anything, but somebody has to win,” he says. ”I Am Starting To Prefer Hold’em” Before Gus became a professional poker player he played backgammon. He started playing poker in Santa Cruz, California and then moved to poker. He does not have favorite game. “I play all games, but I am starting to prefer Hold’em,” he says. Yeah, anybody would prefer it after winning more than one million bucks. Though Hansen’s playing style is profitable he feels like reconsidering it: ” Now, people know who I am, and I may have to change my strategy a little. It’s nice to be a contender.”
