David Colclough - Dealing With Cards, Not With Computer

"Going Postal" on someone means something completely different when you are watching David Colclough play poker. To be fair, he was not the sort of letter carrier that is associated with really bad things happening, and his career in IT did take him to many other places besides the Post Office, but when one faces off against the former technology pro, very bad things can happen to you.

To David poker is not just some passing fancy, or a hobby turned profession. He is one of those few people with an insane, almost unrealistic passion for the game. Colclough eventually turned his back on his career in information technology to focus on his poker game. This is the sort of action that would prompt the friends and family of most people to stage an "Intervention". The move proved to be the right one for the Welsh poker enthusiast. El Blondie, as he came to be known, leveraged his highly aggressive style of play into a very lucrative career.  Colclough has become one of Europe's foremost experts in the game of Omaha. To date his tournament winnings are well over the $1.5 million mark. In his long list of wins and money finishes there are several paid finishes at the World Series of Poker. There is even a story that circulates about David and an event that happened at the WSOP in 2000. As the tale goes, he won an event, but had to give away the bracelet in some sort of deal.  The accolades for this player go on and on. Perhaps the one he would be most proud of though is when he was given the recognition that he so richly deserved and was crowned the European Poker Player of the Year in 2003.
