In 1985 Blair Rodman turned away from the darkside and into the light. In other words, he quit his job as dealer in a casino for the more glamorous, but precarious life of of a professional poker player. Walking away from stable employment in favor of a livelihood that depends on a delicate balance of skill and chance for success is always a difficult decision. As a dealer, Rodman had first-hand knowledge of what can happen when a life of gambling goes horribly wrong. Blair had confidence in his skill though, and soon was eclipsing the income that he made working for the house.
Since his first appearance on the scene, Blair has been a consistent money winner. Even though the World Series of Poker bracelet has thus far eluded him, he has, more often than not, finished in a respectable position...and always in the money. He has had similar success on the World Poker Tour, finding himself finishing just behind Arnold Spee in the 2005 World Poker Challenge. Rodman's success has also stretched to the Ultimate Poker Challenge where he made the final table twice and the Professional Poker Tour where he also reached the final table. This pattern of being a bridesmaid, but never quite the bride has followed him throughout his career. In February of 2006 Blair once again finished second on the World Poker Tour, this time to Barry Greenstein. Remember though, the name of the game is ultimately money, and Rodman seems to always finish ahead of the financial game. Outside of his work at the poker table, Blair is also a published author. He co-authored the book Kill Phil: The Fast Track to Success in No-Limit Hold 'em Poker Tournaments with Lee "Final Table" Nelson. Blair did have a bit of a relapse and in a way did return to the dealer side of the table. In this particular case, though, he took a poker dealer, Roxy, as his bride.
