Barry Shulman is like so many other poker players. He started off somewhere else is his life, and when the game got into his bloodstream, he headed for Vegas like a salmon swimming up stream back to its place of birth. Things started humbly enough, Barry was a real estate agent in his native state of Washington before poker became the driving force in his life.
Barry started playing at young age. When he was ten, and other boys were joining little league, Shulman was working out the pot odds it would take to win back his Mickey Mantle card. Barry Shulman’s career in poker has been very successful to say the least. His victories include high profile triumphs when he won the Rio Limit Holdem and WPO No Limit Holdem. He is also the owner and publisher of the influential “Card Player Magazine”. If asked though, these are not the accomplishments he would list as his major achievements. Barry has proudly kept a marriage going for the past thirty-two years. He is the father of two children. He proved the poker skill is a gene that can be passed on to ones progeny when one of his sons followed in his footsteps and became a professional poker player. Barry is a man of eclectic taste. He will talk to you about the abuse the in the sport of poker, and wax poetic about his admiration of winners, then loan you one of his Reggae and discuss how wonderful Paris is in the spring. Barry is what so few people in life are today, well rounded. Barry will continue to be an influential voice in the world of poker.Article of the Day Archive
