Alexander Kravchenko: In the Record Books Twice

Alexander Kravchenko of Moscow successfully entered the record books when he became the first Russian citizen ever to take home a coveted World Series of Poker gold bracelet. This landmark win took place during the 2007 WSOP's $1,500 Omaha Eight-or-Better event. He has been active on the European scene since 2001 when he was named rookie of the year at the European Poker Awards.

Born on April 21, 1971 in Arkhangelsk, USSR, 36 year old Kravchenko, has just over a decade of professional poker under his belt. His official entry into the professional ranks of poker was in 1997. Despite his status as a relatively new face in poker circles - his lifetime winnings have definitely surpassed the impressive mark. To date he has won over $2.4 million as a poker pro.

The 2007 WSOP was highly profitable for Kravchenko to say the least. After landing the bracelet he went after a second - coming up shy of a second bracelet win, but leaving with an impressive fourth place finish worth over $1.85 million in the $10,000 buy in main event. Kravchenko's excellent showing at the 2007 WSOP also added his name to the record books a second time when he officially surpassed Kirill Gerasimov to be named the latest highest earning all-time Russian poker player.

Typically Kravchenko finishes best when playing Omaha and this is his game of choice. He has made it to the finals at countless events held in Russia and Austria and enjoys regular trips to the casino near where he resides in Moscow. Aside from poker, Kravchenko devotes time to wife and two children while maintaining a "regular" career as a businessman.
