Alex Kahaner is a business owner from Van Nuys, California. Any business owner has to be a risk taker, to one degree or another, and Alex decided to take that risk taking element of his personality to the extreme to compete in the World Poker Tour. Alex had never played in a major poker tournament before, but then before he started his construction company, he had never started a construction company before, either. Any entrepreneur will tell you, you have to do something a first time to discover if you are going to be any good at it.
Alex was good at it. He not only did well in his first major poker tournament, the 2006 World Poker Tour's Legends of Poker event, he went on to win it. That tournament discovered a wolf in sheep's clothing as Alex tore up the field. One by one the other players fell by the wayside, and as each player hit the rail, Alex had to be wondering when he would wake up from this crazy dream his was having. In the end, it was entrepreneur and business owner Alex Kahaner who won the day, taking over a million dollars home as the champion of the event, as well as a bonus most poker players would be happy to get - an entry into the 2006 World Poker Tour World Championship - the main event held at the Bellagio - worth $25,000.
