Poker Player Profile - Jason Senti

Jason Senti

Just about everyone in the sports world knows what a hockey beard it. For NHL fanatics’ world wide it is an excuse to stop shaving for several months while their team battles through the playoffs and hopefully to the Stanley Cup. Most hockey beards don’t get shaven until somebody hoists Lord Stanley’s cup over their head or a defenseman does something very illegal to Cindy Crosby with their stick. Yes, the hockey beard is sports tradition and while men love them, it gives their significant other a legitimate excuse to play “clean the filter” with the pool boy. With that said, Jason Senti’s World Series of Poker appearance may be the start of the “Poker ‘stache” as his fans vow to assault the area around the WSOP Main Event final table with their upper lip hair. At least he is not coming to the game wearing a racing outfit, a Roman costume, or dressed like a boxer. Only a complete twit would do something like that. poker players, poker stars, poker pros, famous poker stars, poker games

Jason Senti is far from being a twit. In fact he is one of the most pragmatic and calculated people left at that WSOP Main Event poker table. This is best evidenced by how he wound up as a professional poker player. He didn’t just start playing online poker and suddenly decide after a few winning hands that he was ready to ditch his chosen profession for life at the poker table. Jason had a good life as an engineer, one that he had put a lot of work into, and it took some time along with wise words from family members to help him make the transition from electrical engineer to WSOP Main Event poker pro. poker players, poker stars, poker pros, famous poker stars, poker games

The 28 year old poker player holds a degree in electrical engineering from the University of North Dakota and started playing poker during the first year of his post college working days. When asked about those days he claims he won a little money, but in truth he was winning enough to get sucked deeper into the sport. It wasn’t long before he was playing poker whenever he could and between live games and online poker, was making more at the game then he was as an engineer. A discussion with his father put him over the edge. While considering which fork in the career road to take, his dad suggested that he was young enough to make this sort of transition. He made it clear that it is rare that people get to do something they love for a living, so if the opportunity is there, his son should take it. Jason never looked back and today is in the World Series of Poker Main Event as part of the November Nine. poker players, poker stars, poker pros, famous poker stars, poker games

Jason is facing some challenges as one of the final table players. He is at the bottom of the chip count and is looking up at a rather steep mountain that he needs climb if he wants to win it all. The good news is that the worst he can do is walk away with over 800 thousand dollars. He also has months to study his opponents and come up with a strategy. To this end he has brought a former WSOP bracelet winner, Phil Galfond , on board to help coach him to a main event victory. We wish Jason luck! poker players, poker stars, poker pros, famous poker stars, poker games
