As a child, Mimi used to accompany her father, an accomplished card shark, on trips to Lake Tahoe, where she illegally played poker and blackjack. She has competed on TV's Celebrity Poker Showdown and World Poker Tour, and sits on the World Poker Tour Board of Directors. She competes in the World Poker Tour and Professional Poker Tour events and continues to hone her skills in her regular home games with her Hollywood friends.
Deemed a child prodigy, Mimi graduated from high school at the age of 14. In 1981 she had her first reoccurring television series role on Hill Street Blues, which lead to the 1983 series The Rousters, then the soap opera Paper Dolls in 1984. She would later have a reoccurring role on the hit series The X-Files in the 1990s. She is currently cast on the 2006 TV series The Loop. A Scientologist, she was responsible for bringing her second husband, actor Tom Cruise, into the Church of Scientology in 1987. They were divorced in 1990. She later posed nude in Playboy's March 1993 issue.
