Fred Savage

Fred Savage

Most people who are successful in Hollywood make it only after several years of struggling while waiting tables at greasy spoons and mailing head shots to anyone with the words "Executive Producer" attached to their name. Of course some people bypass the whole waiter phase and just happen to be in the right place, at the right time. Of course when you are in that correct place at a time when it counts, it helps to be a child with the sort of cuteness that is priceless in Hollywood. Fred Savage is one of those stars who made a career out of his childhood precociousness and likeability factor.

Fred was only four years old when he appeared in the film, Dinosaur. Though this was a start, it was not the place he gained any sort of notoriety. His part in the cult classic The Princess Bride created fair amount of buzz around the 11 year old actor. A year later he was the star of the wildly popular television series, The Wonder Years. Fred Savage was a breakout star.

When the show completed its run, Fred's career went on hold so that he could pursue something that resembled a normal life. He would pop up in the occasional film, or be the voice of a cartoon character, but his focus was on his education. Between going to college and doing film projects on his summer breaks, Mr. Savage kept himself busy and gainfully employed. In 1999 Fred Savage graduated from Stanford University with a degree in English.

This year Fred Savage will be returning to television as part of Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown. Fred will be competing in the first installment of the hit series 8th tournament. Unlike most other celebrities who are part of this show, Fred must match his abilities against that of a legit World Series of Poker champion, Jennifer Tilly. We wish Fred luck in this uphill battle.
