Anybody who is not aware of Ellen DeGeneres has probably spent the last few years living in a cave or an Amish community. Ellen's career has been hallmarked by dramatic moments, massive successes and the occasional public airing of her very personal dirty laundry. She has gone from the stand-up stage to her own hit television sitcom, to near public anonymity. After some rather torrid personal issues, she rose from the ashes and is now back on top as the host of her own hit talk show.
As one of afternoon televisions reigning divas, Ellen displays a poker face that would be envied by even the most successful tournament player, as celebrities discuss their most personal details in front of her national audience. When the show wraps for the day, Ellen is not quite ready to put that poker face away with the rest of her wardrobe though.
Ms. Degeneres may not be a regular on the World Poker Tour, or be seen matching puns with B level celebrities on Bravo's Celebrity Poker Challenge, but this does not take away from the fact that she is actually quite a good poker player. Not only can she be found testing her skills at the tables of Las Vegas, but she is becoming one of the sport's best recruiters of celebrity talent. Cameron Diaz credits Ellen with getting her hooked on the game of Texas Hold'em.
Ellen has been a success at everything she has put her mind to. It would be interesting to see what happens if she ever sets her sights on a World Series of Poker Championship, or a World Poker Tour Title.
