Most of us know Christopher Meloni from his role as Detective Elliot Stabler on the Law & Order spin off Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. After looking at Christopher, most folks would agree that it wouldn't be difficult to mistake the tall, athletic actor for a real law enforcement agent.
Christopher is not one of those actors who dreams of a life in front of the camera from the days when he was a child. Acting was more of an acquired taste for Christopher. He first got the bug to be an actor during his days as a student at the University of Colorado. It would not be until after graduation, and a stint as a construction worker that Meloni acted on his feelings. He eventually moved to New York to study his craft. During his time in the Big Apple, Chris apprenticed at Neighborhood Playhouse, eventually catching a break and landing a part on the NBC sit-com, The Fanelli Boys.
Over the past few years Meloni has racked up a rather impressive resume, but an unequal percentage of his work has him playing characters who are associated with law enforcement. He has even portrayed Detective Mark Fuhrman in the made for TV movie, A Murder in Greenwich. This project was about the unsolved murder of Martha Moxley and the connection of this crime to the Kennedy family.
Today Christopher is a staple of television viewing in one of the strongest franchises in the history of the industry. This year Meloni is going leave the cuffs and service firearm at home, and take his place around the poker table for the 8th tournament of Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown. He will be featured in the fourth game of this particular tournament, and pitted against the likes of Andy Dick, Macy Gray, Robin Tuney, and Joy Behar.
