Gavin Griffin

Although he hasn't been seen in the poker news headlines in a while, Gavin Griffin will always have a place in poker history. He and Roland De Wolfe are the only two poker players ever to have won poker's triple crown, which entails winning a WPT title, EPT title and WSOP bracelet. Another very interesting thing worth noting about Griffin is that his first cash at a live poker table resulted in winning a 2004 WSOP $3,000 Pot Limit Hold'em bracelet ($270,420). This bracelet is what started the whole triple crown run - although it would be a few years before Griffin achieved the next piece of the puzzle.

After winning the WSOP bracelet, Griffin spent much of the next three years making small cashes at the poker table and playing at various poker sites. In March, 2007, Griffin once again made poker news headlines after winning the €10,000 EPT Grand Final ($2,434,061). With both an EPT and WSOP title, Griffin was quickly becoming recognized as one of the world's elite poker players. He was also known for his no limit poker strategy prowess as he cashed in 23 tournaments from 2004-2007.

2008 offered yet another milestone for Griffin as he experienced success yet again on the poker table after winning the 2008 WPT Borgata Winter Open ($1.4 million). With the WPT title now in hand, Griffin graced poker news websites everywhere since he was the first man ever to win a title in all three major organizations (De Wolfe would later accomplish the same feat in 2009). At the time, many were considering Griffin to be one of the world's best poker players. In addition to this, he became an authority on no limit poker strategy since all of his major victories came in this poker variation.

Since winning the '08 Borgata Winter Open and showing off his vast knowledge of no limit poker strategy, Griffin has been pretty quiet at the poker table, having only cashed seven times since. But this doesn't mean that he has dropped off the face of the planet because Griffin has been actively involved in supporting breast cancer in recent years. In fact, he once again made the poker news for dyeing his hair pink at a tournament in support of breast cancer!

In addition to all of this, he also keeps his grinding skills sharp by playing at poker sites on a regular basis. Out of all the poker sites, Griffin's favorite is PokerStars, where he used to be a sponsored pro under the name "GavinGriffin". However, you'll also see him under different names at other poker sites too.

Lately, Griffin has kind of slipped into the pack among other professional poker players since he hasn't won anything big in a while. But this isn't to say that people don't still view him as an expert on no limit poker strategy because Griffin is ery respected at the poker table. And when you add in the fact that he has $4.6 million in live cashes, that respect doesn't look to go away any time soon.
