The 2009 U.S. Poker Championship almost went to Men “the Master” Nguyen. Instead the victory was handed to William Brindise. Brindise defeated the Master in heads up poker at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City to claim the title and $261,800. Nguyen took home a healthy $138,600 for his part as second place. The Main Event had 154 players, which built a total prize pool of $770,000. Nick Binger was the only other big name in the final table competition, and he finished in sixth place for over $30,000.
