Washington Lawmakers Push to Legalize Poker in US

Online poker still has a murky legal status in the United States, but representatives like Barney Frank, D-Mass, are trying to change that. He and others are pushing to legalize online poker while the legality of the UIGEA is in doubt. The Washington Post reported Sunday that the effort to legalize online poker in the US is financed in part by offshore gaming companies. Frank and others want online poker to be legal in the US for reasons of personal freedom, but also to control and benefit from the industry.
