Poker rooms in the United Kingdom are considering that a new tax for them may put them out of business. The tax regime for casinos was launched near the end of April, and some of the most successful poker rooms in the country are worried at the affect it will have on their bottom line. The new tax regime is on a sliding scale, starting at what used to be the flat tax rate of 15% and going all the way up to 50%. Combining this high rate with a drop in poker custom may be the death knell for these rooms.
