Maine Casino To Gain Video Poker

In Bangor, Maine, Hollywood Slots is the only place in town to play video poker, a recent move that falls directly in line with what the state will allow. The owner of the establishment, Penn National Gaming, Inc, told state officials a week ago that it planed to add the video poker program to ten of its 450 slot machines.

Slot machines, as defined by the state, are no longer simply the one-armed bandits of old. Slot machines are defined as any machine that returns a cash payoff when a customer inserts money or a token to operate it for gambling. Because of new technology, these machines can hold a variety of gambling games, from keno to traditional slots, via manipulation of the circuit board or downloading the programs to the machines computer hard drive.

As long as the machines are hooked up to a central monitoring system, they are considered slot machines. Because the casino is having such success with the video poker, other games like blackjack may be on the way soon.
