Russell Crowe Dumps Poker Machines

By launchpoker, Dec 21, 2007

Australian actor Russell Crowe has come out against poker machines in a club where he is part owner and successfully lobbied for the machines' recent removal. Together with business partner Peter Holmes a Court, Crowe looked for 60 poker machines to disappear from the South Sydney League Club in Redfern, Sydney. In response to why he cared, Crowe said he was "not moralizing" about poker, but thought that the low income area needed fewer poker machines as opposed to more poker machines. The machines brought in 1.7 million a year for the South Sydney National Rugby League club.
