The online poker and gambling company PartyGaming is seeking to make things right with the US authorities, and as a result may be facing monetary and other penalties for accepting bets online. The threat of prosecution makes banks anxious about lending money to the company, as that money may end up getting tied up with the US courts, or disappearing. The company, once the largest of online poker companies, is now facing difficulties in making acquisitions without the power of banks behind it. There is talk of a deal with the US Department of Justice that could allay the fears of the banks, but the details of such a proposal have not been made available to the public.
