Will WSOP Go to New Owner?

By launchpoker, Dec 12, 2006

A number of hears ago the World Series of Poker was bought from the family that started it, the Binions, by the world's largest casino owner and operator, Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. Now that venerable franchise, turning 37 next year, may be sold yet again if Harrah's deems the offer made recently to purchase the WSOP too tempting to resist. This Wednesday Harrah's will meet to consider offers of buyouts that are presented to the firm, with a deadline of Tuesday to enter all bids. Private equity firms have made bids before, and some analysts think that Harrah's is trying to drive the price up by taking open bids.
