Oakland University is another site where one of the latest crazes to sweep the nation has come to roost on college campuses; No Limit Texas Hold'em poker. Lest parents who have students attending OU rush to the phone to call the university president to complain, rest easy; no money exchanges hands.
It is a testament to the value of poker in general, and Texas Hold'em in particular, that anyone, much less college students, would play it with such devotion and fervor when there is no real money involved. Every Wednesday night as many as 25 students gather at the Oakland center to socialize, have pizza and soda, and most importantly, play Texas Hold'em. The students play for points instead of cash, and at the end of the tournament the top four players will represent OH in Ohio’s College Poker Bowl.
