Landowner Looking Out For Poker Players

In Nevada one would typically think of the casino owners as the ones most interested in a poker player or gamblers’ best interests, but Park Cattle Company would have the courts believing otherwise. They own the land under the Horizon Casino Resort in Stateline, and have filed a lawsuit in Douglas County District Court on Tuesday asking for an eviction, citing safety and health issues as the reason for the suit.

Earlier in November Wilmar Tahoe Corp, the owner of the Horizon Casino Resort, had filed a pre-emptive lawsuit. On November 8th Wilmar filed a suit stating the land owner was harassing them by making demands that Wilmar make unneeded repairs to the casino and resort.

Park Cattle Co. issued an inspection report that listed “severe cracks” as one of the problems with the structure, and that they fear liability issues. They stated that while they don’t necessarily see the building falling down anytime soon, there are problems that go to the “bones” of the building.
