In Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey an apartment, being called a "poker den" was raided when it was discovered that this location was holding illegal poker games six nights a week, running from ten at night till the next morning. The three residents were charged with a fourth degree crime, maintaining a gambling resort. A fourth man was charged with possession of drugs. The reason it was considered illegal is because the operators were taking a cut of the money, which pushes it from fun to a crime. Comments from local prosecutor John Molinelli suggest that the cut the operators were taking was used to pay for snacks.
