WSOP Owner Harrah's Gets Rejected

By launchpoker, Nov 30, 2007

Harrah's Entertainment, currently owners of the World Series of Poker brand and franchise, put in a bid for 28 percent of UK based land and online gambling group Rank Plc, but were turned down. The offer, which would have exchanged Harrah's UK casino holdings for the chunk of ownership, was rejected despite Rank's shares having taken a hit when gaming machine removal and smoking bans have hurt their business in the United Kingdom. In fact last month Rank put out a profits warning to their share holders that was at a seven year low, covering their major gaming brands Grosvenor Casinos and Blue Square.
