By launchpoker, Nov 26, 2007

An explosion rocked a hotel in NSW's Hunter Valley when a poker machine exploded, itself ripped apart by the bomb planted within. The Cessnock's Sofitel Wentworth Hotel was hit with the blast before 1:30am, shattering a large window in the poker room. An explosive device was recovered from within by firefighters. There were a dozen people sleeping in the hotel at the time, and all escaped unscathed. Detectives from Sydney brought in bomb specialists to search the room, where there was a strong smell of gunpowder in the air.
