When the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was passed into law on October 13th in the US, many online poker rooms spoke out, anticipating a crushing blow to their bottom line as players found it difficult or impossible to deposit money into their poker accounts. One online room, linked to the World Poker Tour, came out in favor of the law, saying they have all along kept US players out of their online room. Some speculate if the WPT had been in favor of the UIGEA because it will drive the poker faithful - banned from playing online - into those live events run by places like the WPT. With only a few months past since the passing of the bill into law, it is too soon to tell.
