After the face of online poker began to change in mid October, when the UIGEA was signed into being, online poker companies began to take a fresh look at how they do business. Many left the US, while others have proudly advertised that they will remain in the American market. Still others, such as Smack Dog Poker, offer free online poker as an alternative. While many pay sites offer free poker alternatives, sites like Smack Dog offer prizes and cash for winners of tournament events. Smack Dog is not the only free online poker site that offers prizes - the National League of Online Poker is known for doing the same.
