When the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act became law on October 13th, many saw the crippling effect it would have on the online poker industry, but few predicted the impact it could have on the most prestigious, longest running pro poker tournament series in America, the World Series of Poker. The Harrah's run event saw over 8,700 players show up for the Main Event this year, which was only one out of forty or more events. Now that the online poker industry has suffered a blow, it will mean less players qualifying online, less money to pay for those expensive $10,000 seats, and less desire for the WSOP to deal with organizations that are considered almost criminal by the US Government.
