The cry "Poker Is Dead" may be heard on a lot of lips ever since President Bush signed the Port Safety Act into law, along with it's anti-online gambling rider, but the thought is a little premature. While many online poker rooms have turned their backs on American players out of thoughts of self preservation, many are still in the US market, and in fact are flourishing. Poker TV shows are still airing and being produced, and poker movies are on the horizon. One of the strongest signs of poker's health, however, are the poker fundraisers that continue to run, from big time rock and roll benefits to small town gigs, such as the Simi Valley High's Baseball and Basketball Boosters third annual Holdem Poker Tournament, where players will compete for a big screen TV and other prizes.
