When Richard Lee finished in the top ten of the 2006 World Series of Poker, he earned $2.8 million. Soon after his residence was raided by San Antonio police investigating an illegal online sports betting operation. Money and assets were seized, and Lee maintained his innocence. On Tuesday Lee agreed to a plea deal that will see him giving up $2.2 million in order to avoid jail time. Lee admitted to breaking the law, but insists that the funds were from his WSOP win, an unrelated issue. Authorities maintain the money is from the illegal website.
