Online Poker Players Needn't Fear Arrests

In a recent article by Nelson Rose posted at Poker Player Newspaper.com, the question was posed: will poker players be arrested for playing poker online? The odds of player being arrested for online poker play are very, very small, according to the article, when considering the facts. First, there is no federal law against online poker playing, or making bets online. The recent Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act that was signed into law this past Friday targets banking institutions, not individual players. Some states have made it illegal to play online poker, and in the case of Washington State, made it a felony, but the likelyhood of getting arrested for playing poker online are, so far, a safe bet.
