2007 WSOP Online Satellite Winners May Suffer Bad Beat

World Series of Poker owners, Harrah's Entertainment, has made an unofficial statement that has the online poker world reeling in shock: they may not accept online satellite winners to the WSOP in 2007. Some 75% or more of the 8,773 players in the 2006 Main Event were online satellite winners, with the $10,000 buy in paid for by online poker rooms. Now that the US has passed a law enforcing a ban on online gambling, poker included, Harrah's has moved to show respect for the law. With such a potential dip in participants the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event might see a field of just over two thousand. The first source to break this news was pro poker player Phil Gordon on his ESPN radio program.
