Athlete and Poker Charity Organizer Dies in Plane Crash

When the small plane crashed into a high-rise apartment building Wednesday in New York City, emergency personal swarmed to the scene. While waiting for the details to pan out, many were concerned this was the precursor to another terrorist attack, ala September 11, but it turned out to be an accident involving New York Yankees Cory Lidle. While no official word was immediately released confirming his identity, the plane was registered to Lidle and his passport was found on the street below. Lidle has run Texas Holdem poker tournaments in the past, raising money for the Make a Wish foundation. The Cory Lidle Make-A-Wish Foundation Charity Poker Tournament held at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas drew over a hundred players, including many pros and celebrities, to raise money for the charity.
