While the bill was recently passed by the US Congress and is waiting only on President George W Bush to sign for it to become law focuses on online gambling as a whole, many have come to think of it as an "Anti Poker" bill, but Democratic Congresswoman Shelley Berkley says that it may not have any effect on the individual poker players. According to Berkley, the bill was created solely to protect the betting industries covering horse racing and lottery ticket sales over the Internet. Berkley, who says she is a firm supporter of researching ways to legislate and legalize online poker and other forms of online gambling, claims that the move to pass the bill was the efforts of the Republican party, that wants to dictate how adults should spend their money.
