When the PokerStars.com World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) made a guarantee to pass out $10 million in cash prizes for its series of poker tournaments, it brought more than twenty thousand players into the game. With so many players the prize pool became inflated, and with four events still to go, the WCOOP is on track to pay out more than double the guarantee. More than 23,000 players who have participated so far already made the WCOOP the largest online poker event of all time, and the $3 million guaranteed Main Event is still to come. When the final numbers are tabulated, the WCOOP could very well surpass all online and land based events, coming in behind only the World Series of Poker.
