36 players started off the field of the Pro-Am Equalizer, with one third of the field being amateurs. The name itself suggests that amateurs will play, facing off against their professional counterparts, and there were indeed 24 pro poker players in the event. At the end, there was only one amateur left, Nick Gonzalez, and five pros: Andy Bloch, Allen Cunningham, Phil Laak, Phil Ivey, and Huck Seed. Gonzalez was the first to fall, taken out by Bloch, and that could have been the moment of fate, as it would be a pro who won the Pro-Am Equalizer, and that pro would be Bloch himself. Bloch knocked out Ivey, Cunnigham and Laak for the win and $500,000.
