Parents all across the nation are understandably concerned about the effects that poker's popularity may be having on their children. While many poker supporters could blithely say "it's just a game" there are plenty of examples of how this game, when badly managed, can end up causing a lot of pain and trouble in a young person's life. In the recent issue of Time Magazine an article was published entitled Parents for Poker which dealt with the subject by examining one couple who encourage and instruct their teenage son on how to play poker for money. The article examines the pros and cons of such an approach and leaves the readers to make up their own mind. Common benefits listed for instructing youth in poker include problem-solving skills, building social interaction, and teaching them how to safely handle gambling.
