The English Amateur Poker Championship was held in Birmingham over the weekend at the Broadway Casino, the first in a number of events on the docket for the Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT). The English Amateur Poker Championship was the first live event, taking place on the 23rd and 24th of September, and was filled to capacity - 120 players in deep stack poker with about one fifth of the players participating in their very first live event. Each player got 10,000 starting chips for a £75 buy in, each seeking to land in the money and possibly score a seat to a European Poker Tour event, paid for by Poker Stars. 33 players made it to Day Two, but it was Daniel Phillips who took the win in the end and the ticket to the EPT Copenhagen.
