A new dimension to online poker tournament play has come to the Ongame Network and some of their sites, called the "Heat Tournaments". The recently released game type borrows something from major live tournament events where the participation is sometimes too much for the venue - multiple starting heats, or "flights." Each heat starts at a specified time and ends at a specified time - those players still in the game will then join the next heat, merging with players who also survived their starting flight. One of the biggest advantages to the Heat Tourneys is splitting up the time it would take to play in a one event, keeping it down despite huge starting fields.
