The 3000 ATMs estimated to be either in or near gambling spots in Australia may have to be relocated if Peter Costello gets his way. The Federal Treasurer has spoken out against the cash machines being located so conveniently near poker rooms and casinos. This announcement comes on the heels of a rumored consideration of a ruling that would allow pubs to add more poker machines than they currently have. According to Mr. Costello's argument, presented to Parliament, a third of the revenue made by poker machines comes from problem gamblers, and removing the cash machines would help remove temptation.
