Borgata Poker Open Goes to Mark Newhouse

Chapel Hill student Mark Newhouse is the 2006 Borgata Poker Open champion, taking the World Poker Tour title on Tuesday following an unstoppable lead at the outset. It takes a lot of great poker playing to win a WPT event, and, often, a lot of luck. It seemed that Newhouse had all the luck at the tables as he built a huge chip lead, starting Tuesday's final table event with $7,025,000 in chips, and there were only $13,500,000 chips in play. This online player brought his biggest, and only, live poker accomplishment, a fifth place finish at the WSOP in the $3,000 Limit Texas Holdem event, with him to this WPT event, but didn't let his lack of experience hold him back. A $1.5 million prize goes to Newhouse as the winner.
