Poker Players Show Hearts Full

By launchpoker, Sep 6, 2006

Where those who are not in the poker industry may imagine that poker players are focused only on what they can make for themselves at the gambling table, the truth of the matter is that most are involved in charity in one way or another. The Canadian poker wonder known as Gavin Smith proved it when a tournament designed to provide for a window and her unborn child was pulled off without a hitch. World Poker Tour cameraman Paul Hannum, a friend of Smith's, passed away five weeks ago at 45, and Smith moved quickly to organize support for his fiance, Sarah Percy, seven months pregnant with their child. On Wednesday, August 30, a benefit tournament staged at the Bike the night before the Legends of Poker final table pulled 115 players paying $1,000 each.
