The latest European country to give the nod to their poker playing populace is Italy, which has legalized online poker. New laws went into effect just days ago, when online poker games already in progress suddenly became legal. Along with the change online poker is now being regulated in the country, adding a level of comfort to the game for the Italians. Recent reports indicate that the average Italian card player spends more than $800 a year playing online; that figure is expected to jump dramatically now that the games have the approval of the government.
