The Poker Players Alliance is an organization that has some 100,000 members and is dedicated to promoting and protecting the game of poker both online and in person, and is currently activated and focused on stemming the tide of anti online poker sentiment and legislation in Washington. The leader of the PPA, Michael Bolcerek, first thought of forming the organization when he heard of a California school that was forced to return charity money raised through holding a Texas Holdem tournament because of a CA law. The former businessman has his work cut out for him, as Washington state has already set a precedent when it made online poker playing a Class C felony in June. The pending legislation to outlaw the game has passed muster in the House of Representatives and only waits for a decision by the Senate before coming closer to becoming a law.
