Held at the Commerce Casino, the four-week California State Poker Championship will kick off in two weeks, and players will marathon through 20 tournaments till the end with a September 23 $2,580 final event. Unlike the World Series of Poker, and other poker tournaments, the California State Poker Championship is all Holdem, so those looking to play Omaha, Razz, and other poker games need not apply. Another attraction for this event is the low buy-in costs which range between $330 and $540, except for the final event. New this year at the California State Poker Championship will be the first ladies only No Limit Holdem event, which will take place on Sunday, September 10, with the winner taking a $1,060 buy in into the ladies event at the LA Poker Classic.
